Since the beginning of this year, Qingdao Airport has been seeing a surge in the number of inbound and outbound passengers. From this January to August, Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport had witnessed more than 2.36 million entry-exit personnel flows and 16,000 inbound and outbound flights, increasing by 23.48% and 13.65%, respectively, year on year. It is notable that from July 1 to August 31, the summer period when travel demand stemming from outbound family tours and summer camps for students thrived, the daily average entry and exit flows stood consistently at more than 10,000, and topped the single-day peak, which was recorded in the first half of 2025, for several consecutive days.
Being an international comprehensive transportation hub, Qingdao has become the most preferred Chinese city through which many foreigners enter China and kick off their journeys across China. Qingdao recorded a combined total of more than 650,000 entries and exits of foreign nationals in the first eight months of this year, a 48% year-on-year surge, and ranking 1st among all ports in Shandong Province.
