The century-old Museum of the Former German Governor's House will host a hands-on workshop celebrating the ancient art of cloisonne enamel, a precious intangible cultural heritage (ICH) item, on Sept 6.
The session, led by museum educators, will introduce participants to the enamel technique of the Yellow River Basin and guide them in crafting cloisonne roses. Registration is open to the public; the event runs from 9:30 to 11:30.

The mansion itself has been decorated with over 6,300 roses on its stairs, ceilings, and furniture, symbolizing a "family crest" and embodying the beauty of Qingdao. These roses serve as a unique cultural calling card for the city.
Located at No 26 Longshan Road, the museum is a European-style castle building designed by a German architect in 1905 and completed in 1907. It covers an area of 34,000 square meters and features a blend of German Wilhelm and Jugendstil architectural styles. The mansion, which has been recognized as a fine work of 20th-century world architecture, showcases the historical and cultural exchanges between the East and the West.
