The Shangjieli Spring Travel Art Season was inaugurated solemnly on March 17. A dozen of events, including the romantic flower and plant installation competition, the immersive performances in Liyuan buildings, the advanced customized fashion show in the Zhanqiao Pier, the laser show and the Murakami Takashi block print exhibition were held on big streets and small alleys across Zhongshan Road and Dabao Island.

17 innovative flower and plant installations along Zhongshan Road No. 1, Guangxi Road No. 27, Anna Villa, Sifang Road and Sanjiangli contend in beauty and fascination, drawing passers-by to stop to watch and take photos.

Located in the triangular area on the intersection of Sifang Road and Huangdao Road, Shuilong Chizi built in 1901 has been turned into a pocket park. The Dior Inlex Bear flash shop, the Murakami Takashi block print exhibition, the green trending cultural art exhibition and the exhibition of collected Celluloid cartoon manuscripts have presented a new Zhongshan Road that is more open-minded, diversified and younger.

When night falls, a number of “elves in night sky” befall Zhongshan Road. Taiping Road is bathed in starry milkway, the undersea world is projected on the external wall of Qingdao Customs Building and the external light boxes of the 1907 Light and Shadow Club present the images of the films shot in Qingdao. Citizens and tourists encountered colored lanterns themed with Chinese solar terms in street corners and on roofs.

The magnificent night show in the historical urban area is the light show named “The Light from the Sea” jointly contributed by Zhanqiao Pier, Little Qingdao and the Marine Palace.

The citizens and tourists who participate in the art season find that such symbolic signs as “I Love Qingdao” can appear on the screen in AR form as long as they download the APP “Shanhai Shengjing” (vast and beautiful mountain and sea scenery) and have their mobile phone lens targeted at Zhanqiao Pier, Qingdao Bay or other tourist attractions, thereby delivering dazzling visual experience.
