Themed “Mutual Learning Through Films and Television-Harmonious Co-existence”, the SCO Film and Television Week opened on August 22 and will conclude on August 31, is aimed at promoting cross-border film and television cultural exchanges, and further helping boost film and television production, tourism and cultural prosperity in SCO member states.
In the event, dozens of Chinese and foreign film and television practitioners and singers, film-television industry representatives and diplomatic envoys of SCO member states in China joined hands with film goers and audiences from home and abroad to write a new chapter in Sino-foreign exchanges in regard to film and television, and cultural tourism. The event will help achieve in-depth integration of film and television and cultural tourism, and provide new impetus for Qingdao, which joined UNESCO's Creative Cities Network as a City of Film in 2017, to gain popularity on the international arena.
To make a greater push for mutual learning among civilizations, enhance mutual understanding among SCO member states, and continue to expand the boundaries and fields of film and television production, the SCO Film and Television Week will work hard to create opportunities for Chinese and foreign practitioners to talk to and learn from each other. The innovative “online + offline” multi-platform presentation mode is adopted in the event. 24 outstanding documentaries and 8 high-quality TV series from China and other SCO member states will be shown online, and 30 films will be presented via offline channels. The above presented items, which are produced by 10 countries, and involve various subjects and stories, comprise not only new productions that have won international awards in recent years, but also great classics that have stood the test of time.
A global presentation and media campaign will be specially launched in the event to introduce Qingdao’s film and television industry. Dozens of new media content creators from several countries are invited to talk about short video creation, see the dialogue among civilizations, and explore the charm and vitality of Qingdao as a City of Film.
