In the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference, which was recently held in the Qingdao SCODA Pearl International Expo Center, representatives from government bodies in China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Cambodia and Kyrgyzstan, international organizations, chambers of commerce and trade associations, and enterprises gathered together to write a new chapter in sub-national cooperation within the framework of the SCO.

The China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference witnessed the unveiling of the Qingdao Initiative, which is split into 6 aspects, namely, making joint efforts to create a broad international logistics channel, build partnerships in industry and supply chains, improve and upgrade trade and investment ties, push for interactions and cooperation among industrial parks, build shared and open cooperation platforms, and fulfill new prospects of sub-national economic and trade cooperation. The initiative resonated greatly with local governments in 20 SCO member states and 8 non-SCO member states, and representatives from chambers of commerce and trade associations, and enterprises.

The event has enabled the participating parties to seek targeted matchmaking, have in-depth talks and explore pragmatic cooperation in such key sectors as economy and trade, investment, mineral resources, new energy, transport and logistics, equipment manufacturing, and scientific and technological innovation, thus helping tap into new markets in the SCO member states and along the Belt and Road.

Meanwhile, the 2025 SCO International Investment and Trade Expo was held, attracting the participation of more than 2,700 companies.  (Lu Bo)
