The third SCO Countries Worker Skills Contest was held in Qingdao on December 18, marking the first exchange event on worker skills since China took over the rotating presidency of the SCO following the Astana Summit. The contest, which aimed to strike a perfect balance between demand from economic development, the status quo of skills development and the willingness of workers in the SCO member states, had both individual competition and team competition, and comprised three items, namely, industrial robot operation and adjustment, intelligent manufacturing industrial control and assembly fitting.
The event fully reflected exchanges between workers from the SCO member states in multiple levels and sectors. With the combination of competition and training, exchanges on skills, special themed lectures, visits to companies, and cultural tours, workers from the SCO member states were more willing to participate and had a greater sense of gaining. Moreover, workers gathered to compare notes, promote friendship, learn from each other and get well acquainted with each other. (Liu Ping)
