As traveling to China has been sweeping the world since the beginning of this year, Qingdao is among the most popular ports for foreign tourists to enter China. Statistics from Qingdao Airport Immigration Inspection Station show that the number of entries and exits via Qingdao Airport from January 1 to December 10 has reached more than 2.7 million, surging 98.16% from the year earlier. Over 320,000 entries of foreign passengers have been recorded, soaring 107.08% year on year, with top five sources of passengers coming from South Korea, Japan, the USA, Singapore and Australia. Inbound passengers traveling to China occupied the highest share.

As China grants visa exemption to more countries, an increasing number of foreign tourists come for “China Travel”. Qingdao, which is poised to become an international coastal tourist destination, is a well sought-after tourist city among foreigners. To help Qingdao to seek high-level opening-up and better leverage its role as an opening-up gateway in northern China, Qingdao Airport Immigration Inspection Station have rolled out five measures, namely, transit foreigners applying in advance for visa exemption, swift customs registration and clearance integration, online entry declaration by foreign passengers, announcement of forecasts, plans and reminders in peak hours, to facilitate foreigners’ entry into China via Qingdao.  (Zhou Jianliang)
