Since the beginning of this year, China Travel has been sweeping around the world. Because of its convenient transportation and appealing tourist resources, Qingdao is among the most preferred ports for foreigners to have a journey in China. According to statistics, more than 500,000 foreign tourists entered or left China via Qingdao airport, a year-on-year surge of 139%. To welcome a continuous stream of foreign tourists, Qingdao continues to upgrade payment services to enable foreign guests to live and travel in Qingdao in a more convenient way.

In the comprehensive service center for overseas guests in Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport, the counter for payment services, which is equipped with ATMs and foreign currency exchange machines, provides withdrawal services for six most popular international bank cards such as VIS, Mastercard and Unionpay as well as self-service conversion of such foreign currencies as USD, Japanese Yen and Korean Won into RMB. Foreigners can show their passports and other documents to apply for China Unicom SIM cards in the counter providing telecommunication services.

To enable foreign guests to travel without obstacles in Qingdao, since this April, Qingdao has put up POS machines accepting overseas bank cards in such eight important metro stations as Jiaodong Airport, Qingdao Railway Station, Qingdao North Railway Station and May Fourth Square which are adjacent to foreign-related hotels. Foreigners can buy or update tickets with VISA, Matercards, JCB, Diners Club and American Express cards, and enjoy better and more efficient services when travelling around Qingdao by metro.  (Zhou Jianliang)
