More than 2 million people enter or leave China via Qingdao Airport this year to date 2024/9/20 source: International daily Print

According to the Shandong Immigration Inspection Station’s branch in Qingdao Airport, as of 13 p.m. of September 11, the number of people entering or leaving China via Qingdao Airport has surpassed 2 million, the passenger throughput and the number of flights saw a year-on-on increase of 125.52% and 76.55%, respectively, the highest levels since the new Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport went into operation.

In 2024, China has granted visa-free entry for such countries as Singapore and Thailand, and some countries and regions have issued landing visas for Chinese nationals. As a consequence, cross-border tourism and tours for visiting family members continue to boom among Chinese mainlanders. By the end of September 11, nearly 730,000 residents from the Chinese mainland went abroad via Qingdao Airport, surging by 117.58% over the same period last year.

Known as the tourism and cultural capital of the SCO and an international coastal tourism destination, Qingdao is among important ports of entry for foreign nationals who go for “China travel”. According to statistics, more than 220,000 foreign nationals entered China via Qingdao Airport, soaring by 146.76% year on year. (Zhou Jianliang)
