Qingdao International Communication Exchange is launched 2024/9/18 source: International daily Print

The Qingdao International Communication Exchange, which was officially launched on September 5, serves as an international communication hub connecting global networks and is therefore an important information infrastructure in China’s outside communication, After completion, the vast number of companies in Qingdao and neighboring cities, which aspire to expand their information services overseas, will not need to make a detour via other cities, and Qingdao will be upgraded from a feeder port amid information flows to an arterial port in international communication

Among the top three international submarine cable landing sites in China, Qingdao boasts the sole international submarine cable landing station and large international submarine cable communication hub in northern China. Included among the first batch of Chinese “gigabit cities” and national internet backbone access points, Qingdao enjoys a prominent geographical advantage and high-level opening-up, and has flourishing demand for international communication services, thus having a basic edge in launching the International Communication Exchange.

Following the launching of the Qingdao International Communication Exchange, Qingdao is on track to become a new center for worldwide data transmission and collection, and will increasingly reach out to the world. International e-commerce platforms and online payment companies highly value data transmission efficiency and safety. Qingdao, positioned as a data processing center, will help these companies to make transactions dramatically more efficient, cut explicit and implicit costs, reduce losses arising from failed transactions and enhance the likelihood of success in transactions.

In the launching ceremony, Qingdao together with a cohort of companies including China Unicom, Tencent, Sina, Paratera, SKT, 360, Shandong Port, Haier, Hisense, Qingjian Group, Qingdao City Construction Investment, Huatong, Double Star and Inspur reached a consensus to build faster a new development paradigm for international communication.  (Sun Xin)
