According to statistics by Qingdao Customs, in the first half of 2024, Qingdao’s imports and exports amounted to RMB 437.83 bln, edging up 1.8% and representing 27% of Shandong Provinces total over the same period of time, and continued to maintain the leadership. Among them, exports hit RMB 254.5 bln, increasing 9.8%, 2.9 and 0.7 percentage points higher than the national and provincial average growth rate, respectively.
Qingdao saw record imports and exports in both June and the first half of 2024. In June this year, Qingdao reported a record high of RMB 81.76 bln in imports and exports, accounting for 27.4% of the province’s total and helping the province’s total to gain by 0.3 percentage points. In the first half of the year, Qingdao’s imports and exports topped RMB 437 bln for the first time since records began.
In the first half of 2024, exports of mechanical and electrical products, labour-intensive products and agricultural products in Qingdao all sustained growth. Noteworthy is that in the first half of 2024, Qingdao’s exports of the “new trio”, namely, electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries and photovoltaic products, reached RMB 2.27 bln, gaining 48.2%, which is 59 percentage points higher than the national rate, and representing 42% of the province’s exports of the “new trio”.
