BEIJING -- The Jackie Chan Stunt Team plans to launch a new martial arts training camp scheduled to run from April 19 to May 21 in Beijing, and is currently open for registration.
For over 40 years, the stunt team, led by renowned Chinese kung fu movie star Jackie Chan, has been recognized as one of the most experienced stunt teams in the world, nurturing many outstanding action actors for the film industry.
The training camp is now accepting applicants worldwide aged 16 and above, with a background in sports and an interest in pursuing or currently engaged in action performance. Registration closes on April 17, and only 15 applicants will be selected to join the training camp.
"The training camp will last for 30 days. Participants will likely train for seven hours each day, three hours in the morning and four hours in the afternoon," introduced Che Guobin, an action instructor in the Jackie Chan Stunt Team.
During the session, trainees will have the opportunity to learn from experienced action directors and coaches to improve their skills through practice.
"Our basic courses focus on the actions most common during filming, including flips, rolls, climbs, and jumps. We tailor the course to what we need on set. Cadets will learn to convey being attacked through body language. In addition to technical skills, they will also learn to communicate with directors and coaches regarding action performance. They should pore over their characters, and know how to express themselves through action, so as to ensure that their body movements are natural rather than posed," said He Jun, an action director in the team.
