Qingdao Shipyard Co., Ltd. affiliated to Huatong Group has recently received an international shipbuilding order for the world’s first synthetic ammonia-powered container vessel. Owned by Delphis, the container business department of Belgium CMB, the container vessel will be run by NCL Oslofjord AS, a joint venture between North Sea Container Line and a subsidiary of Norway Fertilizer Company. With a loading capacity of 1,400 TEUs, the vessel will be put into operation in 2026 as scheduled in shipping lines between Norway and Germany.
Over the recent years, Qingdao Shipyard Co., Ltd. and CMB have forged close partnerships, co-built green and intelligent high-value-added vessels including a 206,000-tonnage bulk carrier and a 6,000 TEUs container vessel, and joined hands to promote low-carbon, green and intelligent development in the shipping industry. Known as the latest achievement in their efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation, the newly-contracted 1,400 TEUs ammonia-powered container vessel will be a splendid showcase of Qingdao Shipyard Co., Ltd.’s painstaking efforts to become a famous builder of small- and medium-sized container vessels.
