The Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently unveiled the latest batch of national 5A-level tourist attractions. The Qingdao Olympic Sailing Marine Culture Tourist Area has made the list.

The 5A-level tourist attraction is built in an innovative manner through the integration of two national 4A-level tourist spots, namely the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center and the Qingdao Undersea World, which are linked up by sea and land. Boasting a wealth of cultural and natural resources, the tourist attraction has emerged as an international marine cultural tourism destination which integrates sailing, coastal leisure, cultural experience, marine research trip and MICE tourism.

The Qingdao Olympic Sailing Marine Culture Tourist Area has launched a number of new scenarios for immersive consumption such as the multidimensional space culture festival and the fair of trendy items, built the well sought after “Olympic Sailing LIFE Mobile Shopping Cart Neighborhood” and introduced UAV flying shows. A wide range of aquatic sports such as sailing, windsurfing, coast rowing, keel-boating, motorboating, flying man on water and tail wave surfing are all made available in the Olympic Sailing Center. In 2023, the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center ranked among the third batch of China national level nighttime culture and tourist consumption cluster areas, and “tour of Qingdao on the sea, see the undersea world”, a tourism product launched by the Olympic Sailing Marine Culture Tourist Area was chosen as a typical case for innovative development of China’s new tourism activities.
