The joint exhibition of high-quality collections by museums in Shinan District was put on in the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Museum, capturing the attention of numerous enthusiasts. More than 40 high-quality museum collections from 23 members of the Shinan District Museum Alliance, such as the German edition Luotuo Xiangzi (Rickshaw Boy) published in 1979, a stone tablet in the fourth year of Tongzhi, Qing Dynasty and the Chart of Foreign Ships, make visitors reluctant to leave.

According to Qin Xiaoting, a Qingdao citizen, the joint exhibition enables her to take a glimpse into these museums’ history and collections at ease. She initially planned to visit the Urban Memory Museum, the Red Stoneware Museum and the Film Museum , which are all located in the old urban area adjacent to Road Zhongshan to gain knowledge of their history and collections.

Shinan District, a core area of Qingdao which is known as a culturally and historically famous city, is rich in cultural heritage. As of November 2023, Shinan District is home to 22 officially registered museums, comprising 2 former residences of celebrities, 4 museums on urban history, 4 on marine culture, 3 on traditional culture, 5 on fashion and arts and 4 on special topics, where every 22,200 population has a museum, an internationally advanced level. The Museum of The Former German Governor’s House in Qingdao, the Navy Museum, the Qingdao Art Museum and Anna Villa are all located in Shinan District.

Since the beginning of this year, Shinan District of Qingdao has built up with care three clusters of museums across Qingdao Bay, Huiquan Bay and Fushan Bay, launched special museum tourism routes themed on “historical architecture”, “celebrity culture” and “marine culture” and held a slew of activities including observation of cultural relics, exhibitions with lingering charm, museum visits and public-benefit courses, which found enormous favor with citizen and tourists.
