Pingdu, the largest county-level city in Qingdao, China's eastern Shandong province, is currently undergoing a significant urban transformation as part of a three-year plan aimed at enhancing the city's appearance and improving the well-being of residents.
The urban transformation started in 2020 with the project to revitalize Dongge Street, which involves renovating eight old urban areas and reconstructing 69 residential zones.

In addition, 11 new pocket parks have since been constructed, and the 48-acre Xianhe Park has been transformed into a popular leisure destination.
To innovate social governance, a new WeChat mini-program was rolled out to allow people to report issues to personnel patrolling the park.
Looking ahead, the city will intensify renewal efforts and accelerate the construction of resettlement housing and associated facilities, according to the local government.
