Costa Mediterranea, part of Adora Cruises, began its maiden voyage from Qingdao on Nov 25, marking the official launch of its new regional route.

The cruise ship, measuring 292 meters long and weighing 86,000 metric tons, will officially embark on its maiden voyage - a six-day, five-night trip to Nagasaki and Jeju - on Nov 26, followed by another five-day and four-night journey on Dec 1.

The Costa Mediterranea has a capacity of 2,680 passengers and features 1,057 upscale rooms and suites adorned with artistic decorations inspired by Mediterranean civilization. This fusion of Chinese and Western cultures offers guests an immersive experience.

In August of this year, the Qingdao International Cruise Port Service Administration solidified a strategic partnership with Adora Cruises, enhancing cruise tourism offerings for both locals and tourists.

The administration is also expanding collaborations with Blue Dream Cruises and the Orient International Cruise Line, with plans to operate over 20 cruise ships in Qingdao next year.

Qingdao's strategic location has fueled a surge in cruise tourism supported by impactful policies and expanded routes. This year witnessed a notable increase in both cruise frequency and tourist numbers, triggering growth in associated industries.

To date, Qingdao has launched 40 international cruise routes to nearly 20 port cities.
