A romantic proposal ceremony was recently held in the Villa Anna, a landmark of love and marriage in Qingdao.

Qingdao is rated as a city of solemn pledges of love by the Chinese National Geography. Mountains and seas in Qingdao give birth to romance like heavenly beauty and enthusiastic devotion and make Qingdao become a place where lovers exchange solemn vows, complying with Chinese deepest commitment to love.

Qingdao was among one of the most popular destination for newly-married Chinese couples when the honeymoon tour started to catch on at the end of the 1970s. The Floating Landscape, a film which was produced in 2003 and largely set in Qingdao, has made Qingdao one of the most popular destination for youths to pursue their love stories. Every year, more than 200,000 new couples come to Qingdao for honeymoon or taking wedding photos.

In recent years, an increasing number of young people have combined internet-famous sites with wedding celebrations to replicate romantic scenes in films and TV series in reality. Every weekend from May to October, proposal ceremonies were held in seaside courtyards against the setting sun, including Villa Anna, Red House Musician Hotel, 1907 Light and Shadow Club, Zhongshan Road No. 1 and Taipingjiao No. 18, where the golden sunset glow, old buildings and romance co-exist in harmony and promote shared prosperity. Likewise, many couples and lovers, who are enchanted with romantic memories, choose to revisit Qingdao on their wedding ceremony, where they either take new wedding photos by the sea, stroll hand in hand the stone path, walk along the romantic Yinghua avenue in Zhongshan Park or go to Pichaiyuan to taste a delicious bowl of jellied bean curd.

“Enjoying the beauties of nature is so relaxing and romantic. It is often said that taking wedding photos is tiring, but the photo-shooting tour in Qingdao is so amazing for us.” said Mrs. Qi from Gansu.  (Cui Yan)
