Global Ocean Summit 2023 held in Qingdao 2023/10/17 source: International daily Print

Themed on “Deepen Ocean Partnerships, Co-build a Maritime Community with Shared Future”, the Global Ocean Summit 2023, recently held in the Qingdao International Conference Center, gathered experts and scholars from nearly 150 ocean-related scientific research institutes from more than 30 countries to discuss the ways to jointly address challenges in the development of marine science and technology and advance the building of a maritime community with shared future. In the event, the OceanObs’ 2029 Planning Committee was launched, the Climate and Ocean-Variability, Predictability, and Change (CLIVAR) Office was established, and experts including Nobel Prize winner Yonath made keynote speeches.

Sponsored by the Laoshan Lab and undertaken by the Qingdao Marine Science and Technology Center, the Summit consisted of an opening ceremony, summit reports, parallel activities, etc. Professional guests made in-depth discussions on marine observation and disaster prevention and mitigation, marine ecology and blue carbon sink, sustainable marine development, the prospects and goals of international deep sea drilling, among other topics.  (Liu Chenglong)
