Qingdao releases the Ocean Decade international cooperation center development plan (2023-2030). 


On the afternoon of August 30, the Promotion Seminar (Shanghai) on Building a Leading Marine City, sponsored by the Qingdao Municipal Government, was held in Shanghai, attracting the participation of representatives of ocean-related international organizations, industry associations and research institutions as well as well-known enterprises in Shanghai and Qingdao, who gathered to seek cooperation and common development.

In the promotion seminar, the National Marine Data and Information Center and the related departments of Qingdao released separately the metrics system on building a leading marine city, the Qingdao marine professionals development environment and policies and the Ocean Decade international cooperation center development plan (2023-2030); the Qingdao international cruise resumption and maiden voyage ceremony for the cruise ship “Blue Dream Star” was held; Shandong Port Group and Qingdao’s Shibei District made promotional presentations; a slew of strategic cooperation agreements and key marine projects were signed collectively.

In the seminar, a total of 11 strategic cooperation agreements were inked, all relating to shipping trade fiance. In regard to signatories, eight agreements were signed with Shanghai-based institutions or enterprises, including DNV GL (China) Co., Ltd., aimed at boosting the transformation and upgrading of Qingdao’s modern shipping service sector through cooperation with domestically first-class think tanks on shipping service consulting, mutual insurance companies, chambers of commerce and associations, financial institutions and leading enterprises; with a total planned investment of RMB12.7bln, the combined 14 key marine projects signed in the seminar attracted signatories from Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shaanxi, and covered marine products processing and marine equipment; Shanghai, an important partner in the seminar, entered into agreements on four projects with Qingdao, mostly in shipbuilding and marine engineering, and shipping logistics, in which shipping services feature heavily.  (Liu Chenglong)
