To be broadcast across the globe on the Chinese New Year’s Eve

On January 20, the Fuzhou Shiyi Spring Festival Gala 2026 finished production in Fuzhou Strait Culture Art Center.

Co-sponsored by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Fuzhou Municipal Committee and the World Federation of Fujian Association LTD, and under the auspices of the Fuzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Federation of Foochow Associations of Malaysia, the spring festival gala is produced in two venues, among which the main venue is in Fuzhou and the sub-venue is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and will be broadcast across the globe on the Chinese New Year’s Eve.

The gala is intended to underscore the topic “the family, the state, the world”, showcase the cultural root of Fuzhou, Fuzhouer’s perseverance and the spirit of solidarity among worldwide residents originated from Fuzhou, offering compatriots at home and abroad a cultural feast which features both nostalgia and international appeal.

The gala began with the opening song and dance Si Hai Tong Chun (Spring Festival Celebrated Everywhere). 17 drums in the main venue in Fuzhou and “drums for 24 Chinese solar terms” seemed to echo each other despite space limitation and convey the sense of reunion across borders. The song and dance Chun Man Xing Fu Cheng (A Luxuriant Spring in the Livable City), in which representatives from all walks of life, including national-level master artisans and Chinese model workers appeared, is designed to unfold the hustle and bustle of Fuzhou, one of the most livable Chinese cities for 2025.

In the gala, outstanding overseas Chinese from the World Federation of Fujian Association LTD and some fellow citizens from Fuzhou went up on the stage to express their new year greetings and convey the shared bond no matter where they are in the world.

The Fuzhou Shiyi Spring Festival Gala 2026 is to be broadcast on the Chinese New Year’s Eve on the news channel, the channel for TV plays and movies, the life channel, the children’s channel of Fuzhou Radio and Television Station. The show will also be broadcast simultaneously via a dozen of cyber platforms, including the Xinhua News Agency Alive Cloud, Hua Ren Tou Tiao and Tencent Video. Furthermore, the gala will reach out across the globe through Chinese and foreign platforms like Future TV Co., Ltd. under CCTV, Malaysia Enjoy Radio and Television Station and PT Telkom Indonesia.

The gala continues to uphold the essence of “making Fuzhou’s voice better heard”, and is designed to convey the message that Fuzhou will embark on a new journey with a courageous spirit in the imminent year of the horse, thus injecting new impetus into Fuzhou’s efforts to disseminate its culture on the international arena and grow itself into a modern international city.
