Citizens are enchanted by the “auspicious fruit”

On December 20, bustling scenes were staged in Fuzhou Minjiang River Park as the annual Fuzhou tangerine culture celebration event took place as scheduled. The Fuzhou tangerine culture-themed celebration event including live-action riddle guessing was held in Minjiang River Park, where citizens acted as “experts on tangerines” and immersed themselves in finding, tasting and amusing with tangerines to see first-hand the charm of regional culture and integrity.

The main venue of the event was located in the square at the main entrance of the southern section of Minjiang River Park, covering key sites such as the Fuzhou tangerine culture park, the rutaceous plant species park, the cultural corridor and the Fuzhou tangerine culture club.

There were a lot of highlights in the event. In the prize-awarding ceremony of the Fuzhou tangerine-related cultural and creative design competition, creative works combining Fuzhou tangerine-related elements captivated enormous attention. During the Fuzhou tangerine-themed artistic performance, song and dance performances as well as comic sketches were staged one after another, inviting a continuous burst of applause. In the Fuzhou tangerine culture club, intangible cultural heritage and creative items, including health-protective tangerine extracts, tangerine twisting handcraft, root carving and plant painting, caused a sensation. Quite a lot citizens stopped to see and make their exclusive creative works on Fuzhou tangerines.

Being golden yellow, plump and with distinct pith, Fuzhou tangerines not only imply auspices and happiness in traditional senses, but also identify with integrity and self-discipline. Minjiang River Park has worked for many consecutive years to tap into Fuzhou tangerine culture, thus emerging as a platform to show this distinctive culture.

According to staff members in the Fuzhou Minjiang River Park Administration Office, this year’s event looked to make breakthroughs, adopted novel means such as live-action riddle guessing and organizing a Fuzhou tangerine culture club to combine in an organic way Fuzhou tangerine culture, integrity culture and intangible cultural heritage with the city flower and tree. Themed on “associating tangerines with integrity”, the entire park turned into a large live-action site for riddle guessing.
