Indonesian passengers are the first to benefit from the policy, and transit times can be reduced by 90%
As recently announced by China’s National Immigration Administration, effective on November 5, the 24-hour visa-free direct transit policy will be extended to 10 international airports, including Fuzhou Changle, Nanjing Lukou and Kunming Changshui. Individuals with international interline tickets transiting to a third country or region within 24 hours through any of the aforementioned airports without leaving the airport may be exempted from immigration inspection procedures.
At 13:00 p.m. of November 5, the MF856 flight, which took off from Jarkata, Indonesia, landed steadily on Fuzhou Changle International Airport. Alicia and Putri, two transit passengers from Indonesia, were among the first passengers to benefit from the policy.
“The process is very smooth. We can skip immigration inspection and wait in the departure lounge. It is so efficient.” Alicia said that she had to go through many formalities, including provisional entry, immigration inspection and luggage claiming and consuming at least half an hour, when she flew from Jarkata to Seoul, South Korea via Fuzhou in the past. It is reported that eligible transit passengers don’t have to go through immigration inspection and can finish transit through a specially designated channel. As a result, transit times can be reduced by about 90%.
