SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Boeing Company on Wednesday reported third-quarter 2025 revenue of 23.3 billion U.S. dollars, up 30 percent from a year earlier, driven by improved operational performance and increased aircraft deliveries.

However, the company posted a net loss of 5.34 billion dollars for the quarter, with a GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) diluted loss per share of 7.14 dollars and a core loss per share of 7.47 dollars.

The loss reflected a pre-tax earnings charge of 4.9 billion dollars on the 777X program, the company said.

Boeing's commercial airplanes revenue in the third quarter increased by 49 percent to 11.09 billion dollars from 7.44 billion dollars in the same period last year, a surge driven by higher aircraft deliveries.

The division delivered 160 aircraft in the period, an increase of 38 percent from 116 aircraft in the same period last year and the highest quarterly total since 2018.

In its defense, space and security division, third-quarter revenue increased 25 percent to 6.9 billion dollars from 5.54 billion dollars a year ago.

"With a sustained focus on safety and quality, we achieved important milestones in our recovery as we generated positive free cash flow in the quarter," said Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg.

"While we are disappointed in the 777X schedule delay, the airplane continues to perform well in flight testing, and we remain focused on the work ahead to complete our development programs and stabilize our operations in order to fully recover our company's performance and restore trust with all of our stakeholders," he added.
