Ford first-quarter U.S. sales up 10.1 pct 2023/4/5 source: Print

CHICAGO, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Ford Motor Company announced on its website Tuesday that it sold 475,906 new vehicles in the first quarter of this year, up 10.1 percent year on year.

Ford's truck sales in the first quarter rose 19.6 percent, and sales of three-row SUVs went up 47.6 percent.

Ford brand, America's best-selling brand in the first quarter, reported total vehicle sales of 456,972, up 10.7 percent.

Ford sold 10,866 electric vehicles in the first quarter, up 41.0 percent year on year. Of this, F-150 Lightning sales totaled 4,291 units, with production capacity on track to hit an annual production run rate of 150,000 this year.

Ford is America's No. 1 selling truck manufacturer, selling 254,023 trucks and vans in the first quarter, outselling GM's trucks and vans by approximately 27,000 vehicles.

Ford attributes its strong performance in the first quarter to strong customer demand across truck, SUV, and electric vehicle segments.

"Ford is off to a fast start to the year," said Andrew Frick, Ford's vice president of sales, distribution and trucks, in a statement. "And this year's highly anticipated new product launches with Super Duty, Escape, Mustang and Ranger, will only add to this momentum."
