A Boeing 767 full freighter carrying 50 tons of cargo departed from Haikou Meilan International Airport in southern China's Hainan Province on Saturday for Italy's Milan Bergamo Airport on Saturday, marking the launch of a new fifth-freedom cargo route.
The air route connects Tbilisi, capital of Georgia, Haikou in southern China and Milan in northern Italy.
The Fifth Freedom means that the airline of a country or region obtains the permission to load passengers and goods in a third country while operating an international route. In the long-haul route, the permission enables goods from one place to reach multiple countries in one time, thus reducing the flight transportation cost and improving the efficiency of air cargo operations.
