Around 135 tons of Thai durians and Vietnamese coconuts on Thursday arrived at Nanning International Railway Port in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region aboard a cross-border ASEAN fruit cold-chain train.
The shipment will be distributed in Nanning before delivered to markets across east, north and northeast China.
"Guangxi has set up green channels for imported fruits. Through appointment-based customs clearance, tiered management, conditional release and other measures, fruit inspection time is directly cut by 40 percent and overall clearance efficiency is improved by more than 30 percent, ensuring ASEAN fruits reach consumers as quickly as possible, while guaranteeing their freshness and quality," said Jiang Yongshuang, director of the Market System Development Division of the Guangxi Department of Commerce.
"This has created good conditions for us to enjoy higher-quality fruit. Meanwhile, we Guangxi's advantage as a distribution center, which enables domestic retailers to find a convenient one-stop sourcing option, allowing them to compare products and offering our domestic consumers more differentiated choices," said Zhou Mi, deputy director of the Institute of American and Oceania Study at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation.
Earlier, at the 2026 China International Fruit Industry Conference, Guangxi released a white paper focusing on expanding ASEAN agricultural imports, committing to more efficient customs clearance, inspection processes, and sales channels to support higher-quality China-ASEAN fruit trade.
