Summer wheat harvesting is in full swing across China’s major producing regions, with nearly 87 percent of the crop already collected, official data showed.

In Tianjin’s Jinghai District, more than 20,000 hectares of wheat have ripened, with yields expected to more than double under an integrated system of land improvement, precision fertilization and smart management. Full mechanization and a digital farming platform are being used to ensure high quality harvesting.

"We can monitor the operating location and progress of each harvester in real time, ensuring that every machine's operations are observable and controllable. Throughout the entire harvest period, we will deploy over 50 combine harvesters, with the harvesting of all 30,000 mu (2,000 hectares) of wheat expected to be completed within five days," said Lin Sen, the general manager of Jinnong Supply and Marketing (Tianjin) Group.

In Bozhou City of east China's Anhui Province, the sowing over 430,000 hectares of autumn crops is underway. Local farmer Fang Youwei is planting over 80 hectares of corn using seeder-fertilizer combos equipped with BeiDou navigation system, delivering row spacing accurate to within 2cm per 100m, with no overlaps or gaps, at twice the speed of conventional machines.

"The current soil moisture is ideal, making it the golden period for summer sowing. With our seed-and-fertilizer sowing machine, we can plant over 300 mu (20 hectares) of land per day," said Fang.
