Over 100 million tonnes of wheat has been purchased across China so far this year, with the total purchases remaining at a relatively high historical level, the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration said.
Along with the promotion and application of intelligent and digital technologies such as intelligent sampling and cloud-based settlement, high-quality and specialized wheat varieties with significant price advantages have been highly favored since the wheat purchase was launched in June this year.
In the sampling area of Luohe Industrial Park in central China's Henan Province, fully automatic intelligent sampling machines conduct random inspections of wheat from 12 different points.
The near-infrared spectrometer can complete the detection of eight indicators within 30 seconds, and the results are then uploaded to the system in real time, so as to guarantee the quality of the purchased wheat.
"It's quite efficient. I can get paid as soon as the wheat is sold, and the entire process is open and transparent," said Wang Jun, a major local wheat grower.
During the summer grain purchase period, policy-based and market-based purchases worked in tandem, effectively stabilizing the market.
