Beijing -- A film carnival of the 13th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) was launched on Saturday in Huairou District of the Chinese capital, attracting flocks of participants with more than 40 kinds of film-related interactive activities.
Themed light shows, film culture exhibition, projection shows are just some of the events that create the immersive movie experience for visitors.
"This year's carnival has two features that stand out more than ever, and one of them is that the audience's interaction with movies has been further integrated. We set up the Wandering Earth and other [movie-themed] light shows. And we got all sorts of movie elements to allow audiences in different age groups to enjoy an equally pleasant experience," said Zhao Qing, director of the carnival.
The carnival is being held in the China (Huairou) Film and Television Industry Demonstration Zone, China's first national-level film and television-focused demonstration zone.
Establishment in 2014, it has already gathered more than 1,800 film-related cultural enterprises and produced over 4,000 film and television works as of the end of 2022.
The demonstration zone is also home of the Huairou International Film and Television Production Service Center, which was established in 2021 to provide seamless service for co-production projects.
"First of all, we have planned 6.99 square kilometers of space, which is quite sizable, for the development of leading industries. At the same time, we have provided some customized policies for different enterprises, which formed an industrial agglomeration." said Wang Qingjun, deputy director of the Huairou Cultural Industry Development Promotion Center.
The carnival will run until May 3
The 13th BJIFF kicked off on Saturday at the Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center and will run into April 29.
Initiated in 2011, the BJIFF aims to boost exchanges among global industry insiders. It has attracted increasing international attention thanks to China's booming film market.
