A China-Europe freight train carrying exhibits to the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) arrived in Shanghai on Wednesday, as China is gearing up for the expo scheduled for early next month.

It's the first of such freight trains, known as the CIIE Express, arriving in the expo's host city Shanghai this year serving specifically for the annual event.

Loaded with 70 TEUs of exhibits worth more than 16 million euros, the train set off from Duisburg, Germany, and took 20 days in total to reach Shanghai.

"All the goods went through customs transit procedures, and the clearance and inspection of them were all completed in the customs territory of Shanghai, offering greater convenience to businesses and help them reduce operation costs," said a customer officer Wei Wei.
To be held from Nov 5 to 10, this year's edition of the CIIE will bring together more than 3,000 companies from over 60 countries to showcase their technologies and products.
