The coastal city of Qingdao in Shandong province has introduced an action plan to boost cultural and tourism consumption. This year, the city plans to host over 1,000 cultural and tourism activities, offering incentives totaling over 10 million yuan ($1.38 million), including consumption vouchers.

In January, the release of 5 million yuan worth of accommodation vouchers quickly stimulated the accommodation market, resulting in over 30 million yuan in consumption. Major scenic spots, sea tourism, cultural venues, and cinemas are participating, providing exclusive discounts at popular attractions like Qingdao Haichang Ocean Park and Tsingtao Beer Museum.

The rules for the vouchers are more flexible, allowing doubling up and covering the entire visitor experience from dining and accommodation to transportation, shopping, and entertainment. The distribution timing is strategically planned, with increased issuance during holidays, brand festivals, and events, along with extended redemption periods.

According to the action plan, Qingdao will host colorful cultural and tourism activities throughout the year. Spring will feature a cherry blossom festival at Zhongshan Park and the azalea festival at Dazhu Mountain. Summer will ignite passion with national summer cultural and tourism promotion activities. Autumn will bring romantic and fashionable themes with events like the international fashion week, while winter will kick off with hot springs and skiing, marking the joyful chapter of winter tourism in Qingdao.

Qingdao aims to become a hub for Shanghai Cooperation Organization tourism and cultural events, a music island, and a film city. The city will host various high-end activities to enhance its cultural charm and attract visitors from both home and abroad. New cultural and tourism scenes continue to emerge, injecting fresh vitality into consumption.
