The 2024 “Trade with Qingdao” exchange event recently concluded with the Malaysia-China Summit and Trade and Investment Expo. Thanks to the 2024 “Trade with Qingdao” business facilitation event, which was held on a continuous basis, more than 2,000 Qingdao-based companies have attended over 110 exhibitions at home and abroad, and achieved an intended transaction volume of over RMB23 bln.

In 2024, Qingdao moved faster to explore global markets. Qingdao’s imports and exports in the first 11 months of 2024 amounted to RMB830.65 bln, edging up 3.2% year on year. Qingdao located 82 overseas warehouses across the globe, and hosted the Yellow River Basin Cross-border E-commerce Expo and the Qingdao Exchange Conference on High-quality Development of Cross-border E-commerce. Efforts were made to continuously improve Qingdao’s trading environment and help Qingdao-based companies to venture abroad at a faster pace. Qingdao is currently home to 25,000 foreign trade-oriented companies, whose trading partners have expanded to more than 230 countries and regions. In 2024, Qingdao held three round-table meetings with foreign-funded companies from Germany, Europe and South Korea. Thanks to the conferences, 42 foreign-invested companies such as Yihai Kerry, Hexagon and Elringklinger have actually scaled up their investment by USD560 mln. Qingdao held economic and trade exchange events in Japan, South Korea, Europe and Middle East, where 68 cooperation projects have been inked, with a total investment of USD2.56 bln.  (Liu Lanxing)
