Over the January-September period, Qingdao-based companies and public institutions have participated in the formulation and revision of 408 national standards, a year-on-year increase of 39%. With the degree of participation in national standards rising to 19%, Qingdao has passed national acceptance inspection for its push for building an innovation-oriented city in regard to the internationalization of standards.

These enterprises that involve in the formulation of national and international standards are pacesetters and market leaders. Over recent years, Qingdao has stepped up support in terms of policies, financing and platform building to help competitive technologies to pivot towards national standards and international standards, and secured new breakthroughs in the formulation of standards. Since the beginning of 2022, Qingdao has presided over or participated in the formulation and revision of 56 international standards and 1,173 national standards. These achievements have dramatically enhanced the discourse and core business competitiveness of “Qingdao-made standards” in industrial sectors. Speaking of such key sectors as household appliances, industrial internet, rubber tires, high-speed trains and marine biology, Qingdao has put up a system of formulation and revision to surpass international standards, seen an increasing number of companies that are marching towards high-end international standards and launched some international and national standards in a few emerging industries.  (Wu Shuai)
