In recent years, Qingdao, Shandong province has been enhancing cooperation with key maritime universities, research institutes, and leading enterprises to further expand its blue economy.

The city has signed talent cooperation agreements with 135 universities, including agreements to set up talent recruitment stations at key marine-focused universities such as Dalian Maritime University and Dalian University of Technology.

Over the past three years, Qingdao has announced more than 10,000 urgent job openings in the marine sector and attracted over 2,300 outstanding young talents specializing in the field.

During a recent talent promotion event at Dalian Maritime University, Qingdao disclosed the recruitment needs for 10 innovative projects, including an intelligent marine weather detection unmanned vessel, a regional marine environment emergency system, and algae farming to boost rural vitalization.

At the same time, the Institute of Oceangraphic Instrumentation, Shandong Academy of Sciences, Qingdao Port International under Shandong Port Group, Qingdao Shipyard, and Qingdao Haixi Heavy-Duty Machinery jointly established student research and learning bases with Dalian Maritime University. This initiative aims to attract outstanding young talent and high-end intellectual resources to Qingdao's marine industry, strengthen cooperation in areas such as internships, joint training, industry-education integration, and project implementation, and achieve mutual benefits for both parties.

"Based on the connections we established during this event, we will be able to further refine the talent and project needs of maritime-related institutions. We will continue to organize marine talent exchange and project matchmaking activities through various methods, such as specialized recruitment events, targeted matchmaking discussions, and the deep involvement of human resource service organizations," said a representative of Qingdao's human resources and social security bureau.
