The 2024 list of the top 500 Chinese enterprises was published by the China Enterprise Confederation and the China Enterprise Directors Association on Sept 11. A newcomer on the list this year joins Haier Group, Hisense Group, and Shandong Port Group and others for a total of seven Qingdao enterprises honored, which has not happened since 2014.

The list ranks companies based on their 2023 operating income.

Haier Group ranked 74th with an operating income of 371.82 billion yuan ($52.2 billion), moving up five places from the previous year. Hisense Group ranked 135th with an operating income of 202.23 billion yuan, climbing 11 places in the ranking. Shandong Port Group ranked 172nd with an operating income of 154.06 billion yuan, moving up 16 places. Qingdao Ocean Holdings Group, making its first appearance on the list, ranked 476th with an operating income of 51.3 billion yuan.

The strong momentum and unlimited potential demonstrated by Qingdao enterprises on the 2024 list of the top 500 Chinese enterprises are inspiring. In the past three years, Haifeng Group, Ronghe Holdings Group, and Qingdao Ocean Holdings Group are new faces on the list, showing the "dark horse" growth of State-owned enterprises in Qingdao.
