The fifth Qingdao Multinationals Summit is being held from Aug 27 to 29 in Qingdao, Shandong province. In a recent interview with China Daily, Geng Ming, managing director of Alstom China, expressed the company's enthusiasm for further expanding its operations in Shandong province.

Alstom, a global leader in sustainable mobility, has reaffirmed its commitment to China's rail transit industry while highlighting the country's immense potential and the company's success in China.

Since establishing a presence in Qingdao in 1998, Alstom has grown significantly, with three entities now operating in the city. These entities have contributed substantially to the development of Shandong province's rail transit infrastructure, and generating significant revenue, besides, another Alstom joint venture CASCO has provided signaling systems for multiple metro lines in Qingdao and Jinan.

Geng said that Alstom's decision to expand its operations in China is driven by several factors, including the country's large consumer base, stable policies, strong industrial foundation, and innovative environment. The company has actively participated in local initiatives, collaborated with Chinese partners, and invested in research and development.

He emphasized the importance of Shandong's supportive business environment, including its efficient government services and supportive policies, which have played a crucial role in Alstom's success. The company has benefited from the province's efforts to streamline administrative procedures and create a conducive environment for foreign investment.

Alstom's continued investment in China demonstrates its confidence in the country's long-term economic growth and the potential of its rail transit industry. By leveraging its expertise and collaborating with local partners, Alstom aims to contribute to the development of a smarter, greener, and more sustainable rail transit system in China.

This is the first time Alstom participating in the Qingdao Multinationals Summit. With a total of 552 guests representing 451 multinational companies, it showcases a diverse range of global businesses. This year's event also provides a platform for these companies to network, share insights, and explore opportunities for collaboration.
