A great many Qingdao-based companies take varied means to get involved in the “Olympic economy” resulting from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games which are in full swing. According to statistics from Qingdao Customs, Qingdao’s exports to France amounted to RMB 3.89 bln in the first half of 2024, a 12.2% year-on-year increase. Among them, exports of sports goods were worth RMB 20.261 mln, increasing 51.7% year on year.

Following the inauguration of the Olympic Games, the number of business inquiries received by Impulse, a Qingdao-based sports equipment maker, whose commercial treadmills and plate loaders sell well on international markets, rocketed 80% month on month. Qingdao Yingbo'er Sports Equipment Co.,Ltd., which specializes in exporting sports equipment, weight lifting training aids, etc., is going full steam ahead to deliver orders on hand as its exports to France has grown nearly 200 folds in value this year to date. According to Qingdao Haier Overseas Electric Appliance Co., Ltd., the ongoing Olympic Games has greatly boosted France’s demand for refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioners among other products, and the value of their exports to France in the first half of 2024 soared more than 80% year on year.  (Liu Lanxing)
