With its refreshing mountain breeze, seaside charm, lush green trees, and quaint red roofs, the uniquely charming city of Qingdao is now more alluring than ever; it was even designated as the tourism and cultural capital of the SCO for 2024 to 2025.

Since the start of this year, the city has been making strong efforts to enhance its subway services and offer a more convenient travel experience, which is expected to lead to more tourists exploring Qingdao by metro.

Qingdao Metro Line 3 the first operational metro line in Shandong province, runs from Qingdao North Station to Qingdao Station, connecting two major transportation hubs, spanning three administrative districts, and enhancing the daily lives of hundreds of thousands of people.

The line traverses the old city area from west to east along the coastline and includes 22 stations, providing direct access to over 20 popular coastal tourist attractions such as the Zhanqiao Pier, Zhongshan Park, May Fourth Square, as well as "internet celebrity" tourist spots. Qingdao's most renowned commercial districts - Zhongshan Road, Hong Kong Road, New Town Center, and Licun village - are also located near the line, making it ideal for both tourism and shopping.

Qingdao, as a nationally renowned tourist city, attracts a large number of visitors from all over the country during the peak tourist seasons. The continuous expansion of the metro system not only shortens the distance between various attractions, but also serves as a significant driving force for the development of tourism in the city.

During the 2023 tourist season, Qingdao Metro accumulated a total of 109 days of extended service, amounting to over 600 hours and providing additional convenience for 1.1 million passengers. These figures mark record highs, highlighting the metro's crucial role in facilitating travel and enhancing the overall tourism experience in the city.
