According to the newly unveiled Qingdao Action Plan for Innovative Development of Artificial Intelligence, Qingdao will strive to build a world-class cluster area of marine artificial intelligence with global competitiveness, with priority given to consolidating computational infrastructure, putting up algorithm models, improving data elements, reinforcing core sectors, pooling strengths in industrial ecology and bringing into play the role of scenario application.

To bolster the computational capacity, Qingdao will make coordinated efforts to build intelligent computing centers, accelerate the construction of Sugon and China Mobile intelligent computing centers as well as high-performance mixed marine hashrate platforms in an all-out effort to reach 3,300P,10,000P and 12,000P of intelligent hashrate by 2024, 2025 and 2026, respectively. As algorithm models constitute the essence of artificial intelligence, Qingdao will move faster to put up globally advanced large marine model systems and large vertical model systems which are sophisticated in niche sectors, with emphasis given on marine industry, urban rail transit, ports, finance, government administration and medical and health care among other key sectors.

Furthermore, Qingdao will work hard to introduce manufacturers of intelligent hardware such as AI accelerator cards and processor chips, and facilitate in-depth cooperation between software and hardware makers, in a bid to be home to around 20 industry-leading enterprises in niche sectors of artificial intelligence by 2026.
