Shandong Province’s first chocolate museum recently located itself on Zhongshan Road in Qingdao and has quickly risen to fame. During merely one week of trial operation, more than 13,000 tickets have been booked, generating a sales amount of over RMB 400,000.

As Qingdao pushes ahead with the protection and renovation of its historical urban area and continues to bring in new forms of business and projects, new types of museums are emerging in succession. In addition to the chocolate museum, the Shangjieli Time-honored Brand Exhibition Hall showcases many old brands in Qingdao including Xinfusheng, Meiliansheng and San Jucheng, the Urban Memory Museum is focused on what had happened on the century-old Zhongshan Road, the Sanjiangli Mini-type Museum records the vicissitudes of Laojieli, and the Liyuan Building Exhibition Center introduces culture and history on Qingdao Liyuan buildings. Furthermore, the Qingdao Old Photographs Museum, where many precious old photos of Qingdao are kept, is about to open. Novel types of museums such as museums on finance, flutes, and clocks and watches will be unveiled in the Qingdao Historical Urban Area in an attempt to explore new models that integrate consumption, cultural tourism and socializing.  (Cao Sen)
