Multiple government departments recently joined hands to release the Qingdao Detailed Implementation Rules for Road Tests and Demonstration Business Management for Low-speed Driverless Vehicles, which allows low-speed unpiloted vehicles to run on roads in Qingdao to press ahead with testing and commercial operations of such scenarios as unmanned distribution, unmanned retail, unmanned sanitation operations and unpiloted shuttle buses.

In Qingdao, Jiaozhou started to pilot demonstration operations for driverless vehicles in the scenario of unpiloted shuttle buses at the end of 2023. With the release of the detailed rules, low-speed driverless vehicles are permitted to run on roads citywide. After receipt of approvals, businesses can proceed with functional testing or demonstration commercial activities for unpiloted vehicles on designated roads in Qingdao.  (Sun Xin)
