With a total investment of RMB 40 bln, 36 major projects in a range of fields including logistics trade, new energy and new materials, and biological medicine, recently signed agreements to locate in the SCO Demonstration Area (SCODA) in an effort to help advance the construction of the “five new cities”, namely SCO International City, SCO Airport New City, SCO Hub Port New City, SCO COSMOPlat New City and SCO Banqiao New City.

About one third of the newly signed projects will be funded or operated by industry-leading enterprises including SCO International Hub Port Operation Co., Ltd., China Logistics Park for Cooperation between Central SOEs and Local Governments, FedEx Qingdao International Port Center. These projects will undoubtedly further enhance the capacity of the SCO Demonstration Area for linking up with and gathering resources.

The “five new cities”, which gain increasing momentum, is appealing to an increasing number of international partners. Passion Group from Russia will build a headquarters and a global R&D center in the COSMOPlat New City. Kirghizia Antares Petroleum Company will build a headquarters for investment in the SCO Demonstration Area, to tap into potential for cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.  (Wang Meng)
