Qingdao's Shinan district authority held a news conference on Nov 27 to announce its commitment to allocating more than 70 percent of its annual financial expenses to areas related to the well-being of the people.

Officials announced that 60 old residential areas have been renovated, 620 illegal constructions have been demolished, and 17 parking lots have been constructed this year. Additionally, the district has created seven tree-lined paths and eight parks, to enhance the living environment.

Basic medical care has also been bolstered, with one of the most notable undertakings being the upgrading of the People's Hospital. Furthermore, three community health service centers have been improved to ensure that every residents is able to receive medical treatments within 15-minute walk from their homes.

To promote cultural and sports activities, more than 200 courtyard art festival activities have been organized, attracting over 100,000 people. Shinan district has also established 56 new fitness paths and over 400 fitness facilities. Additionally, 200 sports events have been held, with nearly 10,000 residents participating.

The district has also focused on employment opportunities and support services. A total of 38,300 job opportunities have been created, including 3,985 public welfare positions in urban areas. Over 5,000 unemployed individuals and other groups have received support services, and skills training has been provided to 8,763 people.
