Qingdao, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, is rich in seafood such as Spanish mackerel. Since the beginning of winter, fishermen in Jiaozhou city of Qingdao, Shandong province, have been busy pickling the fish.

The most famous dish in Jiaozhou is the Song family's salted Spanish mackerel, and Song Shengqing is the third-generation inheritor of this traditional craft.

The art of salting fish has been passed down for three generations. With over 20 years of experience and wisdom passed down from his ancestors, the salted Spanish mackerel made by Song melts in the mouth and has a strong aroma. In 2019, he was awarded the Excellence Award for Intangible Cultural Heritage Projects in Jiaodong.
