Shandong Port Group (SPG) unveiled the nameplate of its African office in Conakry, Guinea on Oct 24 (Guinea time).

The Shandong Port Group Business Promotion Conference was held on the same day.

During the event, SPG and Yantai Port signed cooperation agreements with their business partners while Qingdao Port, Yantai Port, Logistics Group and Overseas Development Group promoted their business.

Endowed with excellent resources and advantages stemming from demographic dividend, Guinea is one of the most important overseas markets of SPG. Over the years, SPG has conducted practical cooperation with African countries in various fields and opened nine container routes to 17 African ports in 11 African countries. Additionally, it has launched 10 container services to Egypt, Morocco and other North African countries.

In particular, Yantai Port, together with Winning International Group, Guinea United Mining Supply Group and Shandong Weiqiao Pioneering Group, has set up the SMB Winning Consortium. Despite being 11,400 nautical miles away from Guinea, Yantai Port has sent teams to Guinea to help develop mineral resources and construct supporting facilities like ports and railways. All these efforts have contributed to the opening of the logistics corridor for bauxite and break bulk cargoes between Guinea and China and created a new way for enterprises in countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to carry out international cooperation.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the BRI and the 9th year that SPG has been cooperating with Guinea. Looking ahead, SPG will grasp the opportunities presented by BRI cooperation and robust China-Africa trade cooperation to bring logistics, commerce, capital and information into Guinea. The aim is to become an excellent partner for the Guinean government, enterprises and people, expand cooperation and share development opportunities.
