October in Qingdao's Shinan district is a time for various sports events that blend modernity with tradition.

One of the highlights is the National Kiteboarding Championship and National Youth Kiteboarding Championship, which took place from Oct 12 to 19 at the No 1 Bathing Beach in Qingdao. This marked the first national-level kiteboarding event in Qingdao, attracting top athletes.

Another event that took place on Oct 14 was the China Sailing Masters, held at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center. More than 70 athletes from 10 teams participated in this four-day event, representing different regions in China.

Also on Oct 14, the IBS Beach Soccer Tourism Festival and the Qingdao Beach Soccer Championship started at the Qingdao No 1 Bathing Beach. Apart from exciting matches, the event featured an interactive football zone, an international beer exhibition and a football cultural experience area.

Lastly, the 7th Qingdao Mind Sports Gouji competition was held on the same day at Taixingli Court in Shinan district. This event brought together 192 Gouji enthusiasts from different districts and cities, who competed in teams. Gouji, also known as the Qingdao version of "Chinese Bridge," is a card game that combines intellect, strategy and skill. This recreational activity promotes physical and mental well-being.
